On December 1, 2016, Google released a new version of the Google Chrome browser. Google Chrome 55 runs on all major operating systems: Windows 10, Windows 7, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. Chrome 55 fixed 36 security issues.
What’s new in version 55
The major changes in Chrome 55 include:
- Websites can now use Chrome as a persistent storage device.
- Download buttons next to media control buttons.
- New popup menu in the media player if not all buttons can be displayed at the same time.
- Added “Ctrl + \” hotkey to the built-in PDF viewer, allowing you to switch between page size and screen width scaling modes.
- The address bar shows the type of current connection, for example, for secure connections displays the label Secure, and in case of problems displays “Not Secure” or “Dangerous”.
- Flash Player is now off by default for most sites.
