On February 4, 2020, Google released a new version of the Google Chrome browser. Google Chrome 80 runs on all major operating systems: Windows 10 / Windows 7, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. Chrome 80 fixed 56 security bugs.
What’s new in version 80
The major changes in Chrome 80 include:
- In test mode, added protection against annoying authority confirmation notifications, such as spam push notification requests.
- Started phasing out FTP support.
- Initial protection against downloading mixed multimedia content (when HTTP resources are downloaded on an HTTPS page) has been offered. Mixed audio and video content will now be automatically updated to HTTPS, or blocked. In the next version, version 81, similar protection will be applied to images.
- Native support for the Contact Picker API allows you to access your contact list and share selected entries with websites.
