On April 17, 2018, Google released a new version of the Google Chrome browser. Google Chrome 66 runs on all major operating systems: Windows 10, Windows 7, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. Chrome 66 fixed 62 security bugs in the browser, including 2 critical vulnerabilities.
What’s new in version 66
The major changes in Chrome 66 include:
- Automatic playback of video with sound in the current tab has been stopped. Now it’s only allowed if the user explicitly clicks on a page or frequently views multimedia content on that site. The change will block abuse on some sites that automatically show video ads with sound.
- To improve security, Chrome is revoking SSL certificates issued in violation.
- Mobile versions of the browser have made it easier to save passwords (one-touch). Also, you can now export them and use them in other apps.
