On July 27, 2017, Google released a new version of the Google Chrome browser. Google Chrome 60 runs on all major operating systems: Windows 10, Windows 7, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. Chrome 60 fixed 40 security issues.
What’s new in version 60
The major changes in Chrome 60 include:
- MacBook Pro Touch Bar support.
- The “Request Mobile Site” button allows you to switch from the desktop version of the website to the mobile view.
- Changes in JavaScript engine allowed to speed up page loading and reduce memory consumption.
- Support for the Paint Timing API, which includes First Paint and First Contentful Paint, allows developers to better evaluate site performance.
- It’s easier now to clear browsing data more in the Android version.
- Support for Payment Request API and the addition of the open VP9 video encoding format using the MP4 container (ISO BMFF) to the Android version.
